From: INFO, CAR FLNR:EX [mailto:CARINFO@gov.bc.ca] Sent: June-26-15 11:21 AM Subject: NR: Caution urged with fire use on Canada Day holiday
Good morning,
This weekend is shaping up to be beautiful with great weather, stampede activities and Canada Day celebrations. The Cariboo Fire Centre wishes everyone an enjoyable weekend and would like to remind them to be responsible with their campfires and keep in mind that carelessly discarded cigarettes, vehicle exhaust, fireworks and sparks from equipment use can easily ignite a fire.
The fire danger rating throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre is “moderate” to “high”, with some pockets rated “extreme”. With hot and dry conditions in the forecast, the fire danger ratings will rise quickly.
The Wildfire Management Branch has responded to 86 wildfires throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre since April 1 and 53% of them were human-caused. A single fire caused by human negligence is one fire too many. With hot and dry conditions expected to continue next week, forests and grasslands are very susceptible to wildfires.
Have a great, safe and FireSmart weekend!
